Once you hit your 30’s, day drinking while you mow the lawn or fumble around the yard is one of life’s greatest pleasures. However, there is a subtle art to selecting the perfect beverage for yardwork. It needs to be something you can guzzle but nothing that will make you pass out in the sun halfway into cutting the hedges. For these reasons and more, I believe the proper drink in hand for an afternoon of yardwork, which I presume is fairly sweaty, is beer on ice.
Load up a water bottle – or your Yeti if you’re fancy- full of ice, dump in a cheap beer, then squeeze in the juice of one whole lime, and drop in the fruit. Ideally, a Mexican lager- à la Tecate, Modelo, Pacífico but honestly, a High Life will work beautifully here. What’s most important is keeping the ABV low and the thirst quenching high. Cheers!
